4.28.14 WOMEN'S LACROSSE: Cavs Face Tiffin in GLIAC Tournament Debut
Women's Lacrosse, 2014-04-28
(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – In its first year of being able to play in the post season, Walsh has qualified for the 2014 GLIAC Tournament. The Cavaliers will be the No. 6 seed after they earned the final playoff spot and will travel to Tiffin to take on the Dragons Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Cavs finished the regular season 6-8 overall and were 3-5 against conference competition.
The two teams met back on April 6 as the host Dragons defeated the Cavs 21-7. Walsh was able to play for a half with Tiffin before a second-half shutdown by the Dragons limited the Cavs’ offensive opportunities.
Tiffin started the game on fire and rushed out to a 6-1 lead midway through the first half. Walsh responded with five of the next six goals scored to make it a 7-6 game as the two teams headed into halftime.
Ivy Meloy (Sr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/HS) and Steffi Zepp (Fr., Dublin, OH/Coffman) led the Cavs’ offense with a pair of goals. Mo Chalko (Fr., Mentor, OH/HS) reached double-digits in saves with 13.
The winner will head to Grand Valley, who earned the No. 1 seed and will serve as the host for the semi-finals and championship.
