Women's Golf, 2014-04-07

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) On Sunday, April 13, and on Monday, April 14, the Walsh University Women's Golf Team will be hosting the JBMF Cavalier Classic at Glenmoor Club Country in an effort to support the Josette Beddell Memorial Foundation.

"In an effort to help support the JBMF, in addition to bringing awareness to the cause, the Walsh University Women's Golf Team raised $1000.00 to be given to the foundation," exclaimed Cavs Head Coach Christina Paone. "We did so by reaching out to family and friends who have been affected by cancer, and asked for donations in exchange for holes sponsorships. We secured eight hole sponsorships for the event, and the signs will say "In Memory Of", with the name of the loved one who lost their battle to cancer."

Josette Beddell, a Canton native, passed away from breast cancer, June 29, 2002, after a five-year battle. Her hopes were that her daughters would never have to endure this disease, and that a day would come when no woman would lose her life to breast cancer.

Participating teams include: Grand Valley State University, University of Findlay, Ferris State University, Ashland University, Ohio Dominican University, Merrimack College, Wheeling Jesuit University, William Jewell College, Lake Erie College, Lake Superior State University, California University of PA, Gannon University and Northwood University.

The teams will tee-off Sunday at 10 am, with a shotgun start at 9 am on Monday.
