5.1.14 MEN'S TRACK: Groubert, 4x100 Qualify For GLIAC Finals

(GENEVA, Ohio) - Justin Groubert (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake) and the 4x100 meter relay team both advanced to tomorrow’s finals after raching in their respective prelim events today.

Groubert qualified for the 1500 meter run finals after he ran the event today with a time of 3:57.60 in the third heat. The top three runners in each heat plus the next three best times advanced to the finals. Groubert was one of the proverbial wild card bids.

The 4x100 meter relay team also squeezed into the finals in a similar fashion as they picked up the last spot with a time of 43.05 in the first heat. The top two teams in each heat plus the next four best times advance to tomorrow’s finals. Walsh held off Findlay by .2 seconds to receive the final spot. Running on the relay team were Seth Wieland (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Green), Ryan Christiansen (Sr., Hartville, OH/Lake), Alex Bates (Fr., Smithville, OH/HS), and Josh Clark (So., Akron, OH/Manchester).

The GLIAC Track Championships will resume and conclude tomorrow.
