5.14.12 VOLLEYBALL: Walsh Women's Volleyball Team Headed to Rome

Women's Volleyball, 2012-05-14

Head Coach Erin Foster has announced that the Cavs’ volleyball team will be crossing the Atlantic Ocean and taking its talent to Rome, Italy to begin its 10-day trip to Europe next March. The Cavs will depart for Rome on Friday, March 1 and return on Sunday, March 10. The trip will be in conjunction with an academic course offered by the university related to Italian food and culture.

In addition to loads of sightseeing, the Cavaliers will play three matches against international competition. The squad will start the class in January and will be continuing its academic efforts while it is over in Rome.

"A trip to Europe may be a once in a lifetime experience for many of our student-athletes,” stated Foster. “I am so thankful to Walsh University and our administration for giving us the chance to go on this journey. We want to use this experience to play high level competition, tour the unbelievable sites, bond as a program and prepare for the very competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. This will be the first trip of its kind for the program, and we are very excited to embark on this experience!”

The team has a fundraising goal of $2,000 per person for the trip. This will include flight, room, board, and travel. The players will be out and about trying to reach their goal and are looking for support.
