5.2.13 BASEBALL: Panthers Clip Cavs Twice

(COLUMBUS, OH) Walsh (22-19, 14-14) lost both ends of a GLIAC doubleheader to Ohio Dominican University (22-24, 16-14) at Panther Valley today, by the scores of 6-1 and 4-3. The Cavs close the season at home this weekend with a three-game GLIAC series against Hillsdale College. They play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday.

Walsh took a 1-0 lead in the third inning of the opener when John Stephenson (Jr., New Philadelphia, OH/HS) scored on a throwing error. The Panthers came back in the bottom of the inning and scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. They would add a single run in the fourth, and then score two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth.
David Roper (Sr., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) started and was charged with the loss and falls to 2-3. He allowed three runs. Seth Robinson (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Springfield) worked the final three innings and allowed three runs. Justin Clements (Jr., Massillon, OH/Jackson) had two of Walsh's four hits.

Walsh scored twice in the first inning of the nightcap. Forrest Boggs (Sr., Suffield, OH/Field) singled in Jake Palidar (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) with the first run, and Trevor Smith (Sr., Parma, OH/Holy Name) scored the second run on Steve Wido's (Sr., North Royalton, OH/Padua Franciscan) sacrifce fly.

ODU answered with a run in the first, and tied the game with a run in the sixth.

Walsh took a 3-2 lead in the seventh inning when Palidar singled to left, and then scored on a Boggs single to right.

ODU answered in the home half of the inning with two runs to complete the sweep, using three singles and a walk. Kyle Ward (Fr., Independence, OH/Padua Franciscan) took the loss in relief.

Palidar went 3-4 and Boggs was 2-4 with 2 RBI.
