5.2.14 MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD: Relay Teams, Groubert Places at GLIACs

(GENEVA, Ohio) – Walsh finished the 2014 GLIAC Championships with placers in three events. The Cavs finished with six points. Grand Valley won the team championship. Ashland finished runner-up.

Walsh’s 4x400 meter relay had the best result for the Cavs as it finished fifth. The Cavs ran the event with a time in 3:19.25. Ashland took home the top spot with a time of 3:12.51. Seth Wieland (Fr., Uniontown, OH/Green), Paul Sonego (Fr., North Ridgeville, OH/HS), Justin Groubert (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake), and Sherman Kortze (Fr., Green, OH/CVCA) ran in the event.

The Cavs also had another relay team place as the 4x100 meter team took home an eighth place finish. The Cavs finished with a time of 43.20. Ashland won the event with a time of 41.33. Seth Wieland, Ryan Christiansen (Sr., Hartville, OH/Lake), Alex Bates (Fr., Smithville, OH/HS), and Josh Clark (So., Akron, OH/Manchester) made up the quartet.

Groubert also ran and finished eighth in the 1500 meter run to also earn a point for the Cavaliers. He finished with a time of 3:56.4. Ashland’s Drew Windle won the event with a time of 3:51.78.
