5.2.14 WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD: Cavs Wrap Up GLIAC Championships

(GENEVA, Ohio) – Walsh finished the 2014 GLIAC Championships today with 11 points. Most of the highlights took place yesterday as Stephanie Foster (Sr., Lodi, OH/Cloverleaf) qualified for the national championships with her vault of 4.13 meters. Her height in the event also gave her the second-best mark in the nation for the outdoor season as well.

Grand Valley State won the women’s championship. Ashland finished runner-up. The same two teams finished in the same two spots in the men’s standings as well.

All of Walsh’s points were scored on the second day of competition, but the Cavs were close to adding to it today.Evan Haney (So., Copley, OH/HS) placed 10th in the high jump with a height of 1.53 meters. She was one spot out of placing as two jumpers tied for eighth with a jump of 1.58 meters. Shannon Montgomery (So., Newton Falls, OH/HS) finished 10th in the discus with a best throw of 41.63 meters. She narrowly missed out on placing as the eighth place throw reached 42.95 meters.

Walsh will now compete in the Allegheny Gator Invitational on Friday, May 9.
