5.4.14 WOMEN'S GOLF: Tsangeos Stands In Top 10 After First Round

(NOBLESVILLE, Ind.) – Jenny Tsangeos (Jr., Canton, OH/GlenOak) opened the NCAA Division II East Super Regional with today with a performance that currently has her in the top 10 after the first day. The Cavs’ lone representative shot a 78 at Purgatory Golf Course to put her in a tie for eighth place.

Four other golfers also carded a 78 in the opening round as Drury’s Morgan Lamberson, Findlay’s Kasey Petty, Grand Valley’s Veronica Ryan, and Indianapolis’ Brianna Scheidler equaled the mark. The quintet was a stroke away from being in a tie for fifth place. Grand Valley’s Kelly Hartigan leads the field with a first round score of 70.

Tsangeos opened up the day and stayed at par for the first three holes. She bogeyed the next three before she birdied Hole 7. She scored a 39 on the front nine. On the back nine, she started out with a double bogey, but recovered with a birdie on Hole 13 and had only two bogeys the rest of the way as her back nine score equaled the first. Both the front and back nine.

The course is a par 72 with a distance of 6,087 yards.

Tsangeos is one of four golfers to compete as an individual in the super regional. She’ll continue tomorrow as one of the first out on the course with a tee time of 8:40 a.m. on the first hole.
