5.5.13 BASEBALL: Cavs Fall 3-1 in Finale

Baseball, 2013-05-05

Walsh dropped the final game of the regular season by a 3-1 count to visiting Hillsdale in GLIAC action on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers finish the regular season 22-22 overall and 14-17 in the conference. Hillsdale finishes at 20-25 overall and 13-18 in the GLIAC.

Similar to yesterday’s opening game, Walsh struck first with a run early in the game for a 1-0 lead. Andrew Bonnette (So., Tallmadge, OH/HS) started off the second inning with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Tim Stinson (Sr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) proceeded to hit him home on a double to left field.

The lead didn’t hold up, however, as Hillsdale tied the game in the fifth. The Chargers then took the lead in the sixth and added an insurance run in the seventh.

Roberto Morales (Sr., Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) got the start and took the loss despite a strong outing. He went 5.2 innings and gave up two runs, one earned, on six hits with six strikeouts and one walk. He ends the season at 3-1.
