5.8.14 BASEBALL: Roper Second Team All-GLIAC; Lee, Link HM

(BAY CITY, Mich.) Walsh University right-hander pitcher Danny Roper (Jr., Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) has been selected second team All-GLIAC, and catcher Mike Lee (Sr., Barberton, OH/HS) and second baseman Drew Link (Sr., Granville, OH/HS) were each named honorable mention.

Roper finished the season 4-2 with a team-low 1.89 ERA. In 47.2 innings he allowed 40 hits, and only 10 earned runs with 27 strikeouts. In his last four starts he went 3-1, with a 1.73 ERA and 12 strikeouts. His finest outing was a five-hit shutout win over Ohio Dominican.

Catcher Mike Lee led the Cavs with five homeruns, 27 RBI, and with a .472 slugging percentage. Lee had seven multi-RBI games, and drove in five runs with two homeruns vs. Northwood University, in a week in which he was named GLIAC Position Player of the Week. Lee caught 37 games.

Link made a successful transition to second base, after playing the outfield for the Cavs, and hit .287, with 17 RBI in 48 games. He was second on the team with eight doubles, and led the team with 21 walks and 13 sacrifices, and was 8-8 in stolen bases.  Link had nine multi-hit games and went 4-4 against Northwood University.
