5.9.12 MEN'S GOLF: Cavs Finish Third of Four in OIC Championship

(Howard, Ohio) - Walsh finished third out of four teams in the Ohio Independent Championship at Apple Valley Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday. Malone won the event with a team score of 573, 38 strokes better than second place Cedarville at 611. The Cavs finished with a team score of 627. Urbana finished fourth with a score of 642. Notre Dame also participated, but only had two individuals and did not factor into the team standings.

Blake Foutty (Fr., Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest) led the Cavs with a 153. Sam Deighan (Sr., Bedford, OH/St. Peter Chanel) finished with a 158. Steve Ely (Jr., Brunswick, OH/Padua Franciscan) and Brandon Shannon (Fr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Woodridge) both scored a 160. Dennis Finneran (Jr., Wadsworth, OH/HS) carded a 163 to round out the team.
