6.21.12 FOOTBALL: Cavs Add Four to Roster

Walsh University Head Football Coach Jim Dennison has announced the addition of four players to the 2012 roster. The Cavs have added George Walker (TB, 5-9, 195, Glen Mills HS/PA), Vincent Cordova (OL, 6-5, 190, New Albany HS/OH/Eastern Illinois), Sir Taylor (DB, 5-11, 215, Lincoln Hall HS/NY/Youngstown State) and Rakim Reed (TE, 6-4, 235, Canton Timken/Marshall). “We are pleased with our new additions to the roster," noted Dennison. "They are all definitely GLIAC caliber players.”
Walker was first-team All-State after rushing for 1,756 yards and scoring 26 TDs at Glen Mills. He averaged 9.49 yards per carry and was the MVP of the Hero Bowl All-Star Game. He also earned first-team All-Delaware Valley Conference honors. He is the brother of Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller.
Cordova is a transfer from Eastern Illinois University. He helped New Albany to back-to-back league titles and was named first-team Division ll All-Ohio as a senior. He also earned first-team Ohio Capital Conference honors. He redshirted at Eastern last year.
Taylor starred at Lincoln Hall HS in New York. He was a standout quarterback and linebacker at Lincoln Hall, earning all-state honors in both football and basketball. He set a school record for touchdowns in a season and was a third-team NYSSWA all-state Class C selection. Taylor then enrolled and graduated from Alfred State Community College, where he was a second-team All-NJCAA selection and first-team All-Northeast Football Conference pick. He lettered one year at Youngstown State, playing in 10 games at free safety.
Reed lettered at Canton Timken and is a transfer from Marshall University. He will be redshirted in 2012.
Walsh opens the season on August 30 at Kentucky Wesleyan.
