8.29.13 MEN'S SOCCER: GLIAC Preseason Polls Released

Walsh has been picked fourth in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason coaches’ poll for the South Division. The Cavaliers, competing in their second season in the GLIAC, received 18 points. Malone (24) and Lake Erie (21) were picked second and third, respectively, with each team picking up a first place vote. Ohio Dominican was picked to win the division with 37 points and two first place votes.

National runner-up Saginaw Valley State was picked to win the North Division with 43 points and three first place votes. Tiffin registered the remaining first place vote in the north and was picked second with 36 points. Northwood (35) and Findlay (10) were picked third and fourth, respectively.

The league’s head coaches participated in the balloting, but were not allowed to vote for their team.

The Cavaliers kick off the season with a non-conference affair at California (Pa.) of the PSAC on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. Six of Walsh’s first seven games are on the road. The Cavs will play in their home opener against archrival Malone on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
