9.11.12 MEN'S SOCCER: Cedarville Blanks Cavs 4-0

Men's Soccer, 2012-09-11

In its home opener, Walsh ran into a talented Cedarville squad and lost 4-0 in non-conference action Tuesday evening. The Cavaliers (1-2) were dealt their second shutout of the season while the Yellow Jackets (6-0) remained undefeated with their second-straight shutout on the season.

The Cavs faced a steady barrage of shots early in the first half, but were able to keep the game scoreless until the 40th minute. It was then that Cedarville’s Joshua Hanif scored on a header from Christian Alexander. In the second half, Cedarville kept the offense moving as Justin Santoro was able to score two goals off rebounds and Dillon King scored another to set the final score.

Mike Kelley (Sr., 6-0, Chagrin Falls, OH/NDCL) faced 21 shots on the night and made four saves.

Walsh returns to action on Friday with a conference showdown with Lake Erie. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
