9.13.13 MEN'S GOLF: Cavs Stand Second After First Day of Malone Invitational

(ALLIANCE, Ohio) – Walsh is currently in second place after the first day of competition at the Malone Fall Classic Invitational being played at the Tannenhauf Golf Course. The Cavaliers finished the day filled with light rain with a team score of 302, three strokes ahead of Mount Union. The hosting Pioneers lead the field of eight teams with a score of 280.

Eric Bowman (Jr., Alliance, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) had the lowest round for Walsh with a score of 73, which places him currently in a tie for eighth individually. Jeff Cockerham (Jr., Akron, OH/Ellet) and Zach Keylor (Fr., Barnesville, OH/St. Clairsville) both carded a 75 for Walsh and are tied for 14th in the individual standings. Blake Foutty (Jr., Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest) and Brandon Shannon (Jr. , Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Woodridge) both scored a 79.

The majority of the pack are close together as only nine strokes separate second place from seventh place. Spring Arbor and Mt. Vernon Nazarene stand at 307, Findlay scored a 308, and Lake Erie has a 309. Ohio Christian is eighth with a first round score of 377.
