Walsh lost a heartbreaker as hosting Lake Erie was able to score with just under two minutes to play in regulation and again midway through the overtime period to come from behind to win 3-2. With the loss, the Cavs now stand at 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC. The Storm improves to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

The Cavs led on two different occasions on two goals by Jeremy Dietrich (Jr., 6-0, Parma, OH/Padua Franciscan). The first one came four minutes in on an assist from Jordan Semple (Sr., 5-7, North Canton, OH/Hoover). The first lead didn’t last long, however, as Lake Erie responded at the 12-minute mark with a goal by Cory Bucur from 25 yards out. Dietrich scored his second goal of the game 10 minutes later, this time on an assist from Broc Sutek (Sr., 6-0, Minerva, OH/HS) from 10 yards out.

Walsh then went into halftime with a 2-1 advantage. The Cavs held the lead for almost the remainder of regulation, but the Storm took advantage of an offsides call on Walsh and scored 23 seconds later in the 88thminute for the equalizer from five yards out. The Storm’s Anthony Novak then scored the game-winner in the 98thminute.
