Walsh University was handed its first loss of the season as Northwood won at home by a score of 2-1 in GLIAC action. The Cavaliers fall to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the GLIAC. It was their first conference game that counts in the GLIAC standings. Hosts Northwood improved to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

The Cavs were playing down for the majority of the game as the Timberwolves’ Alyssa Tomassi scored on an assist from Kaitlin Christensen in the 6th minute of the game. The Timberwolves added another goal at 63:20 as Amanda Watson scored on an assist from Megan Murdoch to become Northwood’s all-time leader in goals.

Walsh was able to prevent the shutout as Molly Martin (Sr., 5-7, Canfield, OH/HS) scored her first goal of the season on an assist from Gina Pinzone (Sr., 5-6, Cleveland, OH/Padua Franciscan) with less than a minute remaining.

Michaella Stucky (Fr., 5-5, Medina, OH/HS) had a strong game in goal as she made six saves on the afternoon after getting the start and playing the first half. Taylor Stano (Fr., 5-7, Massillon, OH/Jackson) played the second half and made one save in goal.

The Cavaliers won’t have much time to rest as they now travel to Saginaw Valley State to take on the Cardinals on Sunday. Kickoff is set for noon.
