9.14.13 MEN'S GOLF: Cavs Finish Second at Malone Fall Classic

(ALLIANCE, Ohio) – Walsh finished second in the annual Malone Fall Classic Invitational by posting a two-day team score of 598 at Tannenhauf Golf Club on Friday and Saturday. The Cavs, who were 22 over par in the tournament, edged Mount Union by two strokes and Findlay by six strokes. Lake Erie finished with a score of 616 for fifth place to round out the GLIAC teams.

Spring Arbor scored a 618 for sixth place, Mt. Vernon Nazarene was seventh with a score of 622, and Ohio Christian was eighth with a score of 746.

Jeff Cockerham (Jr., Akron, OH/Ellet) led the way for Walsh with a two-day score of 145 after he shot a 70 today. He finished tied for fifth in the individual standings and had one of two eagles in the tournament. Zack Keylor (Fr., Barnesville, OH/St. Clairsville) was second for the Cavs with a score of 150. Eric Bowman (Jr., Alliance, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) carded a 152, Blake Foutty (Jr., Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest) scored a 154, and Brandon Shannon (Jr., Cuyahoga Falls, OH/Woodridge) scored a 155 to round out the Cavaliers’ team.

The Cavs return to action a week from today at the GLIAC North Fall Tournament held in Hawks Head Golf Club in South Haven, Mich., in a two-day event.
