9.18.12 VOLLEYBALL: Sokol Leads Cavs to Sweep of Alderson-Broaddus

Walsh (3-4) won its home opener, sweeping Alderson-Broaddus (1-12) in three sets by the scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-18. The Cavs return to GLIAC action on Friday night, when they travel to Big Rapids, Michigan to meet Ferris State University.
Krissy Sokol (Jr., 5-9, Akron, OH/Archbishop Hoban) paced the Cavs attack with 14 kills and nine digs. Sokol also had two service aces. Julianne O’Donnell (Sr., 5-10, Willowick, OH/Lake Catholic) had 10 kills and eight digs. Paige Chandler (6-0, Jr., Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) and Devin Hummel (5-8, Fr., Shelby, OH/HS) each had big nights. Chandler had nine kills and eight digs and posted a .529 attack percentage, with Hummel adding eight kills. Senior setter Hannah Duran (5-9, Elyria, OH/Midview) dished out 42 assists. Freshmen Emily Muzechek (5-9, Mansfield, OH/Madison) led the Cavs with 10 digs.
