9.19.13 WOMEN'S TENNIS: Cavs Calm Storm 9-0

(MENTOR, Ohio) – Walsh made short work of hosting Lake Erie with a 9-0 win in GLIAC action Thursday afternoon. The Cavaliers have now won five consecutive matches to improve to 5-2 overall and in the GLIAC. The Storm remain winless at 0-7.

The Cavs cruised through the match winning all but eight games in the entire match. Sofya Logunova (Praha, Czech Republic/Russian Embassy School in Prague) and Alona Skobkina (Tarragona, Spain/Instituto Espan de Andorra) excelled at first doubles with an 8-2 decision. Anastasiya Dasik (Kiev, Ukraine/School N 40) and Arina Kravitz (Youngstown, OH/Boardman) shutout their opponents 8-0 at second doubles. Alisha Angle (Lexington, OH/HS) and Daria Bondareva (St. Petersburg, Russia/HS) won by default at doubles.

In singles action, Logunova won 6-3, 6-1 at first singles. Bondareva and Skobkina both won by scores of 6-0, 6-1 at second and third singles, respectively. Angle and Dasik were victorious by 6-0, 6-0 scores at fourth and fifth singles. Kravitz won her sixth singles match by default as the Storm had only five players.

Walsh returns to action on Monday when it hosts rival Malone. The match is set to start at the Klekotka Tennis Complex at 3 p.m. and is a Jersey Roar event. All Cavalier athletes are encouraged to wear their jerseys or warm-up gear to the match.
