9.21.12 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Adams' Goal Puts Cavs Past Falcons

Walsh notched its first win in the GLIAC conference standings as the Cavaliers defeated visiting Notre Dame 1-0 at Milazzo Field. The Cavaliers improve to 4-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the conference. The Falcons now stand at 2-5 and 1-3 in the conference.

The Cavaliers were able to score in the first five minutes as Carley Adams (Sr., 5-8, Louisville, OH/HS) received a pass from Lindsey Smith (Fr., 5-7, Massillon, OH/Jackson) on the right side of the box and slipped it past the goalkeeper. The goal happened at 4:29 and was Adams’ first of the season.

Michaella Stucky (Fr., Medina, OH/HS) and Taylor Stano (Fr., 5-7, Massillon, OH/Jackson) both combined once again for another shutout. All four of the Cavaliers’ wins have been shutouts. Both Stucky and Stano had two saves each in the game with Stucky playing the first half and Stano the second.

The Cavs return to GLIAC competition as they host Lake Erie College on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. It will be the first game of a men’s and women’s doubleheader. The men’s soccer team will play Ohio Dominican following the conclusion of the women’s match at 3:30 p.m.
