9.22.13 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Slow Start Hurts Cavs in 3-0 Loss to Saginaw Valley
Women's Soccer, 2013-09-22
(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Two early goals by Saginaw Valley State doomed Walsh as the visitors went on to win by a score of 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Milazzo Field. The Cavaliers fall to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the conference. The Cardinals are now 3-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the GLIAC.
It was difficult for Walsh to generate much momentum as Saginaw Valley scored a goal in the first minute of each half. The first goal came 16 seconds into the game as Jennifer Goethals took control of a ball misplayed by the Walsh defense and dribbled it in from the left side of the box. In the 9th minute, the Cardinals scored again off of a rebound in the box. The final goal came 25 seconds into the second half.
This was the final home game of a six-game home stand to start the season. The Cavs will look to bounce back on the road at Ohio Valley University in Vienna, W.Va. this Thursday. Kick-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
