9.27.13 VOLLEYBALL: Cavs Bit By Ferris State

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh had its hands full as it hosted Ferris State, ranked No. 24 nationally, and dropped straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-20, and 25-12. The Cavaliers are now 3-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Bulldogs improve to 8-3 overall with an undefeated 3-0 conference mark.

Ferris State controlled the first game and jumped out to a large lead it didn’t relinquish. The second game was much closer as the Cavaliers threatened to pull even in sets as the score was 20-20. However, the Bulldogs went on a 5-0 run to go up 2-0.

Britney Terrell (Sr., 6-0, Canton, OH/Jackson/Wright State) led the Cavaliers’ attack with seven kills. Paige Chandler (Sr., 6-0, Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) and Janelle Yunker (So., 6-0, Marysville, OH/HS) added a pair of blocks defensively. Devin Hummel (So., 5-8, Shelby, OH/HS) led the team in digs with eight.

The schedule doesn’t let up for Walsh as it hosts No. 19 Grand Valley State University. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
