9.28.12 WOMEN'S TENNIS: Tennis Posts First GLIAC Win

Walsh (1-6, 1-6) won its first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match, with a 9-0 shutout of visiting Lake Erie College today. The win was also the first of the season for the Cavs, while keeping the Storm winless at 0-7 overall and 0-7 in the GLIAC.
Kayla Shaheen (Sr., Canton, OH/Central Catholic) and Shellie Webster (Sr., Lexington, OH/HS) won at first doubles (8-2) and Jaclyn DiDomenico (Jr., Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) and Allison St. George (Sr., Boardman, OH/Cardinal Mooney) won at second doubles (8-2). Lake Erie forfeited third doubles.
Webster won 6-2, 6-3 at first singles, while St. George won 6-0, 6-1 at number two singles. Alisha Angle (So., Lexington, OH/HS) won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles, while Shaheen won 6-3, 6-0 at number four. Mary-Catherine Beck (Sr., Alliance, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles. The Cavs won number six singles by default.
The Cavs are at Malone University on Wednesday at 3 pm.
