9.29.13 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Cavs Overpowered By Storm 2-0

Women's Soccer, 2013-09-29

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Walsh’s tough luck continued as it took a 2-0 defeat by Lake Erie College on the road Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers are 3-4-1 overall and 0-3 in GLIAC play. The Storm improve to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in conference competition.

Lake Erie’s first score came after Elizaveth Awuah scored her fourth goal of the season off a pass by Bethany Haramis that bounced off a Walsh defender just under 10 minutes into the game. The game remained 1-0 until the Storm put the game away on a goal in the 86th minute by Alexandria Gagne.

Walsh controlled much of the game offensively as it outshot Lake Erie 19-9 overall with a 12-5 advantage in the second half. Only five of those shots were on goal, however, which equaled the Storm’s five shots on goal. Rachel Rucker (Sr., 5-5, Uniontown, OH/Lake) led the charge with five shots.

Walsh remains on the road next weekend as it travels to Ferris State and Grand Valley State. The Cavs will take on the Bulldogs first on Friday at 4 p.m.
