9.7.13 WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: Dickey Wins Ric Sayre Invitational

Women's Cross Country, 2013-09-07

Kelsey Dickey (Jr., Cortland, OH/Lakeview) had a strong start to the year with a first place finish in the annual Ric Sayre Invitational. With warm weather and a strong course, Dickey was able to pace herself from the rest of the field of 79 runners and cross the finish line with a time of 18:37, 11 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Overall, the Cavaliers finished third with 77 points. Mt. Union won the event with 25 points. John Carroll finished second with 40.

Annie Wise (So., Atwater, OH/Waterloo), Sarah Torok (Fr., Strongsville, OH/HS), and Katelyn Ryan (Jr., Alliance, OH/Marlington) finished 17th, 18th, and 19th in the team scoring, respectively. Wise, who was 26th overall, had a time of 20:33. Torok finished with a time of 20:43, and Ryan crossed at 20:47. Lauren McCabe (So., Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Bradley) rounded out the top five for Walsh with a time of 21:20.

Walsh is off next week and will return to action at the National Catholic Meet hosted by the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. The event is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
