9.8.12 WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY: Cavs Finish Third in Ric Sayre Invitational
Women's Cross Country, 2012-09-08
Walsh opened the season in the annual Ric Sayre Invitational at home today and finished third overall in a field of six teams. The Cavaliers (3-2) finished with a total of 71 points. John Carroll coasted to victory with 26 points with its top five runners all placing in the top 10. Mt. Union finished second with 42 points.
Lissa Yoder (Sr., Cortland, OH/Maple) and Kelsey Dickey (So., Cortland, OH/Lakeview) both had strong finishes as they finished seventh and eighth, respectively. Yoder finished with a time of 20:08 and Dickey was a second behind at 20:09. Annie Wise (Fr., Randolph, OH/Waterloo) was third for the team and 20thoverall with a time of 20:53. Elena Deighan (Fr., Sagamore Hills, OH/Western Reserve Academy) finished 28th overall with a time of 21:07 and Lauren McCabe (Fr., Hilliard, OH/Hilliard Bradley) finished 29thwith a time of 21:10 to round out the Cavs’ top five.
Ursuline finished fourth in the team results with 120 points, followed by Notre Dame College with 147 and Hiram with 176.
Walsh will be in action on Friday as the Cavs travel to South Bend, Ind. to run in the National Catholic Invitational at the University of Notre Dame with a start time set for 3:30 p.m.
