9.8.12 WOMEN'S SOCCER: Durina's Goal Puts Cavs Past Ursuline

Women's Soccer, 2012-09-08

The freshman class continues to come up big for the Walsh Cavaliers as they recorded another shutout on the young season, this time by a 1-0 count at Ursuline College. The Cavs improve to 3-0 and gave the Arrows their first loss of the season as they dropped to 2-1.

After a scoreless first half, Walsh came out and scored just over six minutes into the second half as Emily Durina (Fr., 5-6, Youngstown, OH/Austintown Fitch) was able to slip the ball past the goalie on an assist from Carley Adams (Sr., 5-8, Louisville, OH/HS). The defense did its job once again as Taylor Stano (Fr., 5-7, Massillon, OH/Jackson) and Michaella Stucky (Fr., 5-5, Medina, OH/HS) combined for the shutout. Stano made one save in the first half and Stucky made two saves to preserve the victory.

The Cavs are off until Friday when they play in their first conference game at Northwood University. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
