Admissions Status

Applications for the DPT class of 2016 are now open.

Interview Dates & Deadlines

Beginning in July 2012, we will be participating in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service, known as PTCAS. Applicants applying to our program for the class of 2016 (entering fall 2013) will apply online using the PTCAS application. The Division of Physical Therapy adheres to the non-discrimation policy established by the university:

In consideration of the above policy, candidates who demonstrate a history of scholastic aptitude along with professional potential will be considered for admission. There are 3 routes of admission into the Graduate Program in Physical Therapy. All qualified students applying to our program are required to successfully complete an interview prior to being accepted.

1. Application with a Bachelors Degree (pending or completed). This is the traditional 4+3 model. Students can complete their undergraduate degree from Walsh University or other accredited institutions and submit application materials for review. Prerequisite requirements are described below.

2. Application via the Accelerated Program at Walsh University, or our 3+3 model. This program is offered through the Division of Math & Sciences and allows highly qualified students to complete their undergraduate prerequisite courses in 3 years. Students who successfully complete the Accelerated Program, fulfill all admission requirements including our on-site interview process will be admitted into the program in what would be their 4th year of college. 3. Application through the Direct Entry Program, a modified 4+3 model. This program is offered to high school students with a strong academic background an ability to be conditionally accepted into the Physical Therapy Program as freshman undergraduate students. Students admitted into the Direct Entry Program cannot apply to the Accelerated Program. Click here for more information on Direct Entry.

Requirements

Specific application requirements, to be submitted on PTCAS, for the traditional 4+3 and 3+3 accelerated program include the following:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree with an undergraduate overall GPA of 3.0 or greater
  • Transcripts from all former institutions attended
  • GRE scores to standards (quantitative, verbal, analytical writing)
  • Three letters of recommendation (two academic; one professional)
  • TOEFL score (international students only)
  • Exposure to the field of physical therapy and completion of 3 observation forms from 3 different settings (minimum 10 hours total in each setting).
  • Application form (rolling admissions until class is filled)
  • On-Site Interview (by invitation)
  • On-site group work and writing sample (by invitation)

We evaluate prerequisite courses taken at other institutions through review of course syllabi. The requirements listed above represent semester credit hours. If your course work was designated as quarter credit hours, convert your quarter credits to semester credits to ensure that your preparation meets these requirements. In order to convert quarter hours to semester hours, divide the quarter hours by 1.5. (Example: 4 QH/1.5 = 2.6 semester hours).
