John Hippley - Assistant Coach
John Hippley begins his seventh season at Walsh as a part-time assistant coach. John served on the staff of the late Steve Loy (2003-04) and is in his sixth season under Coach Young. Hippley most recently authored his first book, “Living in the Shadows,” taking fans through the 2007-08 season with the Walsh Men’s Basketball Team.
Before coming to Walsh, Hippley was a varsity assistant at Warren G. Harding High School. His previous stops include stays in the collegiate ranks, as well as high school ranks. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State University, Hippley was named Head Coach at Jackson-Milton High School in North Jackson, Ohio in 1987. He served one season as an assistant coach at the University of Detroit in 1988, was head coach at Southern Local High School in Salineville, Ohio from 1990-93, and served as head coach at Steubenville Catholic and Bristolville. Hippley is single and resides in Columbiana, Ohio. He has taught introduction to landscaping for the last 15 years at Marlington High School in Alliance.
