A 3.50 minimum grade point average (GPA) in counselor education AND state or national credential as a professional counselor OR graduate of the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs (CACREP) or the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) program.
We welcome and encourage all CHD students to participate in the activities and functions that Alpha Mu sponsors. If you wish to become more involved with a committee or an activity, have questions, or contributions - do not hesitate to contact any of the officers on the Faculty Advisor.
To apply for membership, simply complete the following steps:
1. Complete an application for membership (Available in the CHD Department Office or online)
2. Attach an unofficial copy of your transcript from the registrar's Office and one check for $_____dollars payable to Alpha Mu for membership dues and fees.
3. Bring the completed application to Dr. Linda Barclay, Faculty Advisor, for review and signatire approval (Science Center Building, Room 141)
Participation in the Alpha Mu and Chi Sigma Iota is much more than a mere reflection of outstanding academic achievement and dedication to the counseling profession. Accepted membership in Alpha Mu signifies acceptance of responsibility and accountability for one's education and professional identity, while simultaneously committing to improve the counseling profession as a whole. The Alpha Mu membership takes great pride in promoting scholarship and Best Counseling practice in their workplace with an advance degree in counseling from Walsh University.
