"Cavs Edge Mt. Union 7-6"

(North Canton, OH) Walsh (2-0) defeated the University of Mount Union 7-6 this afternoon. A.J. Schraffenberger (Fr., Cincinnati, OH/Bishop Fenwick) picked up the win in relief, pitching three scoreless innings. Jake Wright (Fr., Delaware, OH/Hayes) worked the ninth for the save.

Austin Szink (Fr., Canton, OH/Jackson) had two hits and a walk, Dylan Duchek (Fr., Struthers, OH/HS) singled and doubled and drove in two runs and Mark Pisanello (Fr., Alliance, OH/HS) had two hits and an RBI.

"Cavs Outslug Tri-C"

Walsh opened the season with a 13-6 win over Cuyahoga Community College on Friday. David Honeck (So., Uniontown, OH/Springfield) had three hits and five RBI. Honeck doubled, and clubbed a three-run homer over the left field fence in the bottom of the seventh inning. Travis Hall (Fr., Huber Heights, OH/Wayne) went 3-3 with 2 walks and 2 RBI and Brook Clark (Fr., Canton, OH/McKinely) singled, doubled, walked, and drove in 2 runs.

The Cavs used nine pitchers, each working a single inning. Donnie Macko (So., Clinton, OH/Northwest/Wheeling Jesuit) was credited with the win.
