Shaping Today's Students for Tomorrows Technology:
Bioinformatics at Walsh University

The field that is revolutionizing scientific research is now offered at Walsh University.

Combining biological data with mathematics and computer science, Bioinformatics allows scientists to store, retrieve, analyze and visualize biological data as never before!

This exciting new field integrates mathematics, biological research and chemical principles with powerful computing technology to create applications in virtually any discipline, especially in complex health related fields.

In the future, medical professionals and biological scientists will use bioinformatics to transform massive amounts of raw data into a profound understanding of the functions of genes, proteins, and cells, leading to new developments in the diagnosis and treatment of disease, pharmaceutical breakthroughs, and improved quality of life.  Walsh University has a state-of-the-art Bioinformatics laboratory as one of the cornerstones of the new Timken Natural Sciences Center.  In the very near future, Walsh will be one of the few colleges or universities in Ohio able to offer a major in Bioinformatics.
