New Student Residence Hall Named in Honor of Brauchler Family
One of Walsh University's newest student residence facility now bears the name Brauchler Hall in honor of a recent donation made by long-time friends of the University, William (Bill) and Kathleen Brauchler.
Both lifetime residents of Canton, the Brauchlers attended area schools; William is a Lehman High School graduate, Kathleen is a Central Catholic High School graduate. William served in the Navy Seabees during World War II, after which he commenced a long career at Canton Drop Forging and Manufacturing Co. He retired as Director, Vice President and General Manager when the company was sold in 1982. Kathleen, a graduate of St. Mary's College, was a teacher in the Stark County school system.
"This is our way of honoring our parents, a way to benefit Walsh and its students - to promote the availability of Catholic higher education," said William Brauchler. "We see our gift as a way to create a lasting legacy for our families," said Kathleen Brauchler. Brauchler Hall is a three-story student housing building containing 12 apartment-style units. Each four-bedroom, 1,200 square-foot unit is completely furnished with large, individual bedrooms, an expansive living room, full kitchen, two bathrooms and comes fully equipped with microwave, dishwasher, garbage disposal and a washer and dryer. One of the twelve units is designed to accommodate handicapped students.
An official dedication of Brauchler Hall took place on Wednesday, June 23, 2004, with a luncheon at the University's Paul and Carol David Family Campus Center. A campus tour with University President Richard Jusseaume, the Brauchlers and Walsh's Director of Advancement, Bridgette Neisel, followed.
