Walsh University Cakes for Caring
Walsh University's Cakes for Caring competition will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 as part of our Fall Family Weekend/Homecoming weekend.
Each competitor is challenged to create a cake with the theme: "Walsh University: A Legacy of Excellence, Integrity and Service."
The cakes can depict different sights or symbols that represent Walsh University. This may include buildings, the seal of the Brothers of Christian Instruction, sayings, and any symbols/images that represent the University just to name a few. It may be good to talk with Walsh Community members to get ideas about a cake
You may decorate your cake however you wish, using a variety of techniques or tools, although all cakes must be edible. There are no height or weight requirements and cakes may be extreme (involve movement, etc.).
There is no entrance fee to be part of the competition and space is limited. Only cake artists that RSVP will be permitted to enter the competition.
The cakes will be displayed in the Paul and Carol David Family Campus Center DeVille Atrium.
Cakes will be judged under three criteria:
- Overall Appearance
- The theme of the challenge is prominently exhibited
Each cake will be put up for silent auction and all the proceeds from the event will support the student-sponsored service group, Smiles with Style and Kids for Kids, outreaches for children and teens in hospitals.
The top cake artists will be awarded:
- 1st place: $200.00 and the Walsh University 1st place trophy
- 2nd place: $100.00 and the Walsh University 2nd place trophy
- 3rd place: $75.00 and the Walsh University 3rd place trophy
