Career Opportunities
Mental health counselors are employed in a variety of program settings: community service/mental health agencies, schools-based intervention and treatment, hospital/residential centers, crisis intervention centers, corrections/criminal justice centers, vocational and career-development programs, and private practice. Counselors work with individuals experiencing alcohol and drug abuse, domestic violence, emotional adjustment and mental illness, disability rehabilitation, marriage and family problems, eating disorders, parenting and childhood crises, and juvenile and adult probation/parole.
