Master of Arts in Counseling & Human Development

Developing Empowered, Conscientious Professionals

A Foundation for Caring

Walsh University's counseling graduate program, leading to Master of Arts in Counseling and Human Development, is committed to developing conscientious, professionally skilled counselors who are responsive to the needs and individual differences of all people. Our students are led by seasoned educators and active practitioners, offering students focused clinical education and experiential training with a case-oriented learning approach. A master's degree is available in Mental Health Counseling or School Counseling. In addition, our core curriculum is designed such that students have the ability to complete counseling master's degree requirements for both tracks with relative ease. Both tracks have a foundation curriculum in theory, human behavioral research, and practical skills training.

Recognized as being among the top 50 best jobs in America by MONEY MAGAZINE, mental health or "clinical" counselors have the flexibility to practice in a variety of settings such as community family service, crisis intervention, alcohol and drug abuse, criminal justice, hospitals, mental health agencies, and many more.

School counselors practice primarily in a school setting and cover areas such as career counseling, crisis counseling, prevention and intervention programs, assistance with learning disabilities, and more.
