CHD 665 Foundations of Clinical Mental Health Counseling Practice 3 sem. hrs.
Orientation to the profession of clinical mental health counseling, including professional roles, identity and fuctions, the history and philosophy of the profession, scope of practice, ethical and professional practice issues (such as managed care), credentialing, clinical supervision, and the programs and systems used in the prevention, treatment and advocacy of mental health for diverse populations. The course will consider the organization (including emergency management systems), financing, plulic policy and regulatory processes of mental health service delivery systems. Prerequisites: BSC 560, CHD 602, 603, 610, 612, 626, 635, 740; recommended, 635.
