Walsh University Undergraduate Catalog 2012-2013
ENG 318 The Novel 3 sem. hrs.
H2b:This course engages students in a study of the formal structures and literary devices of the novel. In light of Gaudium et Spes, it will also attend to the ways in which the novel is particularly suited to the exploration of significant questions concerning human nature. The focus of the course may vary from semester to semester (treating specific genres of the novel, historical contexts, or authors), but the overall goal is to allow students to demonstrate their understanding of the form through class discussions, presentations, and writing. Thematic focus may change. (See special descriptions in schedule.) Fulfills H2b requirement. ENG 102 or HON 103 competency required. Offered every spring semester, with detective novel focus in odd numbered years for students in Forensic Studies.
