SOC 301 Women and the Criminal Justice System (formerly Women in Prison) 3 sem. hrs.
H2b: This course focuses on women as criminals, victims, and professionals working within different branches of the criminal justice system. Feminist theory, as well as other theories of female perpetration of crime, are examined along with the history and extent of women’s experiences with crime and the criminal justice system. Topics include, but are not limited to, women as perpetrators and victims of violence, the history and development of women’s prisons, the experiences of women in prison, and women working as police officers, as correctional officers, and in the legal field.
