Athletics > Dale Howard/Director of Athletics Dale Howard/Director of Athletics"Dale Howard Named Walsh Director of Athletics" Walsh University has announced the appointment of Dale Howard as Athletic Director. He will continue to serve as Vice President of Student Affairs. Howard replaces Jim Dennison, who will concentrate solely on his job as Head Football Coach. “I feel very fortunate to be able to succeed Jim Dennison as Director of Athletics, who has worked so hard developing a comprehensive athletic program that is recognized as one of the finest in the NAIA,” said Howard. “I am very much looking forward to continuing this legacy of excellence as we move forward. Walsh’s coaching staff, dedicated to the success of our student-athletes in all aspects of their development, is second to none, and I am enthused about working with them on a day-to-day basis to support their efforts. Athletics is, and has always been, a passion of mine. To be able to add this position to my duties, one that permits me to spend my time and energy more fully in this arena, is a real blessing.” In addition to his current responsibilities, Howard will have direct responsibility for; Dean of Students (Campus Life Programs and Services), Director of Campus Ministry (Campus Ministry Programs and Initiatives), Director of Student Support Services (differently-abled student services, retention initiatives, health services, etc), Chief of Campus Police (Campus Police Force and Traffic and Parking Services), Associate Director of Athletics for Football Operations and Head Football Coach, Assistant Director of Athletics (Senior Women’s Administrator) and Head Women’s Basketball Coach, Assistant Director of Athletics and Compliance, Athletics Business Manager and Head Men’s and Women’s Tennis Coach, Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Sports Information Director, Head Men’s Soccer and Baseball Coach, Director of the Cavalier Club, Athletic Grounds Supervisor, Weight Room Coordinator, Athletic Trainer and Training Program. Before joining Walsh in 1989, Howard held student affairs positions at Colorado Northwestern Community College (Rangely, CO) and Alfred State College (Alfred, NY). He earned a B.S. in Education and History from State University College at Brockport (Brockport, NY), an MAED from University of Northern Colorado (Greeley, CO) and a Ph.D. (A.B.D.) from Bowling Green University (Bowling Green, OH). |
