of Phyical Education
and Men's Track and Cross-Country

Dan McCallion is the head of Walsh's Department of Physical Education and head coach for the men's cross-country and track squads. He obtained his master's degree in physical education and counseling from The University of Akron.

2006-07 marks Dan McCallion's 30th year in association with Walsh University. McCallion came to Walsh in 1977 and promptly began breathing new life into the track program and polishing the cross-country program. McCallion's teams made an immediate impact, rebounding from consecutive last place finishes at the All-Ohio Meet, to finish 10th, 4th and 3rd in Dan's first three years. McCallion has taken the Cavs to the NAIA National Cross Country Meet fifteen times, with an all-time high fourth place finish in 1988. McCallion has had a qualifier at the national track championships every season. He has produced two NAIA All-Americans in 1999 with a 21st place team finish, the highest in Walsh history. McCallion was also named "2003 Coach of the Year" for the American Mideast Conference.

A four-year letterwinner in track and cross country and a 1975 University of Akron graduate, Dan was the last Zips' distance runner to attain NCAA All-American recognition. He was inducted into the University of Akron's Hall of Fame in 1994.

Dan and his wife Kathy, daughter Stacy and son Alex, reside in Plain Township.
