Professor Holt

Professor Sheryl Holt has over 28 years of service to the physical therapy profession. Her experience includes various positions in the roles of clinician, clinical educator, and academic educator.  Professor Holt received her bachelor's degree in physical therapy from GeorgiaStateUniversity in 1978. In addition, she holds an advanced master's degree in Allied Health Science with emphasis on pediatric practice and neuropsychology from OhioStateUniversity. Throughout her career she has focused on patient centered interventions, research, professional and patient teaching, and program development. Her expertise has been primarily in the field of pediatric neurological and adult neuromuscular patient populations. Her practice setting have included in-patient and outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, long-term care facilities, overseas mission work, educational, home-based, and developmental settings, and specialized seating and orthotic clinics. She has also created and edited numerous clinic or school newspapers, illustrated home exercise manuals, professional programs, and in-service productions. She has acted as facilitator to family/patient support, exercise groups, adaptive sports, and inner city enrichment. She collaborates with Walsh Special Education to present roles of physical therapists to students within that program.

Currently she is pursuing a PhD in Rehabilitation Science through the University of Kentucky. Professor Holt joined the faculty in August 2004.  Current academic year teaching responsibilities include PT 607 Life Span, PT 605 Functional Neuroscience, PT 730 and PT 731, Neuromuscular Impairment I and II, and the pediatric content of the other clinical science courses.  

She is the proud mother of Mia and Sammy Holt-Hoskins who fuel her continued passion for rich and lively pediatric course content.
