Dr. Murray


Dr. Leigh Murray has been working in the physical therapy profession for 7 years. Her experience includes positions in a variety of settings.  She has worked in acute care, orthopedics, home health and has managed an outpatient orthopedic clinic. 

Dr. Murray received her bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Winston-SalemStateUniversity in North Carolina.  In addition, she holds a master's and doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology from KentStateUniversity. Her research interests include the influence of health and wellness on the geriatric population as well training and overuse injuries in the adolescent athlete.  In addition, she continues to collaborate with professors at KentStateUniversity and The University of Akron in the area of environmental physiology.

Currently she practices in the home health setting for a small home health agency in Akron. Dr. Murray joined the faculty in August 2006.  Current academic year teaching responsibilities include PT 615 Biomechanics (Fall 2006), PT 608 Foundations of Clinical Exercise (Spring, 2007).  Dr. Murray will also be involved in teaching components of the cardio-vascular and community health courses.
