Walsh University's Master of Arts in Education classes are constantly revised and updated. In addition, the courses offer a broad range of choices permitting students to tailor programs to their individual needs. Classes during the fall and spring semesters are offered in the evening to ensure that working teachers or other professionals can complete courses. Summer offers a variety in scheduling, including day and evening course work, workshop formats as well as a range of offerings from May sessions to abbreviated semesters.
Candidates for a Master of Arts in Education degree must complete at least 36 semester hours of credit in graduate level education courses approved by the university. The program includes a core requirement of at least 15 hours. Nine elective hours, nine hours from the university's Teacher Resource Institute courses, and a Teaching Skills Laboratory course are all designed to complement the degree requirements.
Additional options are available for those who wish to complete, Ohio Department of Education licensure, or one of two reading endorsements at the graduate level. The choices of the reading endorsements are the Early Childhood Reading Endorsement or the Middle Childhood/Adolescence and Young Adult Reading Endorsement.
Education Graduate Program Format
Most courses in the Master's of Arts in Education program are offered in an eight-week format. Two eight-week sessions are offered in the fall and spring semesters. Summer course offerings provide a variety in scheduling, including day and evening course work, workshop format and a May session.
Class Meeting Times (Fall and Spring):
Evening classes meet 6:00 pm-10:00 pm one night per week
There is one Saturday class per eight-week session which meets from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
