Eric Belden Named Vice President of Advancement & University Relations

Walsh University has announced the appointment of Eric M. Belden as Vice President of Advancement and University Relations.
As Vice President of Advancement and University Relations, Belden will be responsible for the organization and implementation of the University's fundraising, alumni and external relations programs, major gifts campaign, annual giving, and corporate and foundation relations.
"Eric brings energy, purpose and enthusiasm to a successful university that is planning a giant step forward," said Walsh University President Richard Jusseaume. "We are blessed to welcome him."
Belden joins Walsh from Pathway Caring for Children where he served as the organization's Executive Director since 2009. As Executive Director, Belden was responsible for the overall administration and growth of the organization with a focus on establishing/expanding relationships with referral agencies and the funding community. Under his leadership, Pathway increased and expanded its services across Northeast Ohio by 40 percent and increased annual campaign contributions by 50 percent. In addition, the organization increased awareness in the community through regional marketing campaigns and is in the process of eliminating its organizational debt.

Prior to his position at Pathway Caring for Children, Belden served as Sponsorship Manager for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival from 2003 to 2009 where he helped to significantly increase the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival and the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce sponsorship campaigns. He was also a founding member in the development and launch of ystark! Young Professionals Engaged in Stark County. From 2000 to 2003 Belden served as Ombudsman for the Stark County Department of Jobs and Family Services.
Belden currently serves as an Executive Committee member of the Alliance of Summit County Child Caring Providers, a Council Member of Carroll County Family & Children First Council and Board Member of First Tee of Canton. He was a member of the 15th Class of Leadership Stark County and was honored as a ystark! Twenty under 40 award recipient in 2009.
He has formerly served on the boards and councils of several community organizations including the J. Babe Stern Center, United Way of Greater Stark County-Vision Council, ystark!, ArtsinStark and the Players Guild of Canton. Eric Belden earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York.
Belden and wife Catherine live in Plain Township with their three children, Kaitlin (8), Sarah (5) and Harrison (2).
Eric Belden will replace outgoing Vice President Bridgette Neisel who has accepted the position of Vice President – Donor Services and Development at the Stark Community Foundation.
