Tenure Track Appointment for Education Professor


Walsh University, a Catholic institution located in North Canton, OH, offers a liberal arts undergraduate education and graduate programs at the master’s level, including a Master of Arts in Education. A commitment to the Judeo Christian tradition, diversity, and service learning is critical to the mission of the Division of Education and to the University.

The Division of Education is seeking candidates with a minimum of 3 years AYA (Adolescent to Young Adult) or MCE (Middle Childhood) teaching experience, preferably in a math or science classroom. The applicants will have earned a doctorate; been licensed or certified in the field in which the teaching occurred; hold a commitment to teaching best practices in undergraduate courses; and knowledge of program standards proposed by the appropriate SPAs (Specialized Professional Associations). Responsibilities will include teaching AYA/MCE methods classes, teaching appropriate and/or related graduate classes; developing AYA/MCE teacher preparation curriculum, advising students, assisting with readiness for an NCATE visitation and participating in academic scholarship and campus service. The position is available beginning with the fall semester, 2008. Rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.

DIVISION OF NURSING

The rapidly growing, NLNAC accredited, BSN program at Walsh University includes both pre-licensure and RN-BSN options. Walsh University invites applications for the following positions in the Division of Nursing to begin 2008:

Full-Time Nursing Faculty

(Mental Health Nursing; and Med-Surge/Critical Care Nursing)

The faculty in each of these positions has the primary responsibility for utilizing interactive and innovative strategies in classroom and clinical teaching as well as designing and developing curriculum. The successful candidate will meet the following requirements: MSN required, doctorate in nursing (or related field with MSN) preferred; teaching experience in baccalaureate nursing education; current clinical practice in area of specialty; Ohio licensure or eligibility for licensure required.

Requirements: BSN is required, Nursing MSN and teaching experience in baccalaureate education is preferred, demonstrated current clinical competence (2+ years of clinical experience) and relevant teaching experience is preferred. Current Ohio RN Nursing or eligibility for licensure. Management skills, computer skills (able to operate and learn to manage simulation programs and learning softwares)

Division of Business, Economics and Communication

 

MBA Director and Full-time Teaching Positions

The Division of Business, Economics and Communication invites applications (rank open) for two, full-time, tenure track positions in the School of Business beginning in August 2008.In addition to teaching responsibilities, the person holding one of these positions will serve as Director of the MBA Program.The preferred candidates should hold a terminal degree in a business related discipline including but not limited to management, marketing, finance, accounting and economics.

Duties and Responsibilities

MBA Director

Reporting directly to the Dean of the School of Business, the MBA Director plays a vital role in the academic administration of Walsh University by serving as a leader who provides the linkage between the work of the faculty and the administration.The MBA Director’s responsibilities include program management, curriculum development, and assurance of learning, admissions and recruiting support, MBA program related faculty and staffing, budget management, advising and related governance activities.

Teaching:

The faculty member holding the position will have the following teaching-related responsibilities and duties which include but are not limited to:

  • Teach a 12 credit hour load (academic year) including undergraduate and graduate coursework with a possible course reduction for productive research activities.
  • Teach, develop and revise management or marketing courses and curriculum for graduate and undergraduate programs.
  • Attend and actively participate in the School of Business meetings.
  • Active engagement in ongoing professional development in the field of expertise.

Scholarship:

  • Evidence of scholarly research or an established research agenda.
  • Record of published scholarship and presentations at professional associations a plus.

Service

The faculty member holding the position will engage in service activities which include but are not limited to providing professional assistance to the profession, to the community and to the university in accordance with his/her professional acumen and breadth of experience and will attend and actively participate in University governance activities.

Minimum Qualifications

A terminal degree in business related field (PhD, DBA)

Ability to interact with external stakeholders

Developed scholarly agenda and evidence of scholarly activities

Demonstrate knowledge and application of current theory and practice

Possess excellent oral and written communication skills

Demonstrate ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment

Demonstrate desire to engage with students

Experience and evidence of excellence in teaching at the college level

Desired Qualifications

Professional certifications specific to discipline

Management/program administration experience

Familiarity with AACSB Standards and Expectations

Effective teaching in a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses

Professional experience

Publications and research in the discipline

Salary

Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications, experience and rank.This is a tenure-track faculty position with an attractive benefits package.
