Director of Service Learning 

Walsh University seeks Director of Service Learning.  Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Academic Innovation, the Director of Service Learning is responsible for connecting students, faculty, and community partners through the high-impact practice of service learning. This is a Specialty Faculty position (non-tenure track).

Responsibilities

 

Primary duties include:
1.Assist faculty in understanding the place of service to the community within an educational setting.
2.Assist faculty in using service learning tools to introduce students to experiential-based learning with community partners.
3. Assist deans and chairs in identifying and using community resources as learning tools in an academic setting.
4.Manage a budget for internal and external learning experiences.
5.Identify and call into play university resources for program development.
6.Work with regional and national organizations supporting service learning advancement and development.
7. Identify appropriate community partners for service learning courses and serve as liaison to the community agencies
8. Work as part of an Academic Innovation team which includes Global Learning, e-Learning, Faculty Development and Grants and Research  

Requirements  

Successful candidates will possess a Masters Degree in a related area.

Marketing Faculty Position   

 

Walsh University invites applications (rank open) for a tenure-track position in its growing DeVille School of Business beginning Fall 2015. 

The preferred candidate will hold an earned terminal degree (PhD, DBA, EDM) or a confirmed dissertation date in a business related discipline with a specialty in marketing from an institution accredited by the Association for Advancement of Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) prior to the intended start-date. If possible, the applicant will have special expertise in the emerging areas of social media. The successful candidate will be experienced and comfortable teaching in an environment that includes a global perspective as well as integrated and experiential learning pedagogy.

The DeVille School of Business recently completed a total curriculum redesign of its undergraduate and MBA curricula.

Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Dean, the successful candidate will play a vital role in the design and instruction of courses in both the undergraduate and MBA programs of the DeVille School of Business at Walsh University.

The successful candidate will engage in teaching-related responsibilities and duties which include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching an 18-credit hour load (9 credit hours in each of the fall and spring semesters) distributed across the undergraduate and MBA programs.
  • Teaching, developing and revising courses and curriculum for graduate and undergraduate programs.
  • Participate in assurance of learning.
  • Attending and actively participating in general activities of the DeVille School of Business.
  • Actively engaging in ongoing professional development in their relative field of expertise.

 Scholarship

  • The successful candidate will provide an agenda for pursuing scholarly research consistent with Boyer’s Model and with the mission.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for or show evidence of published research in professional journals and/or other appropriate scholarly artifacts, including presenting at conferences of professional associations.

The faculty member holding the position will engage in service activities which include but are not limited to providing professional assistance to the profession, to the community, to the University and to the DeVille School of Business in accordance with his/her professional acumen and breadth of experience and will attend and actively participate in University governance activities.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience and/or evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level consistent with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
  • A terminal degree in business related field (PhD, DBA, EDM) or a confirmed dissertation date with a specialty in marketing.
  • Ability to interact with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Documented scholarly agenda and evidence of scholarly activities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of current theory and practice.
  • Process excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in engaging with students.

Occupational Therapy Program Director

Walsh University (North Canton, Ohio) seeks qualified candidates to fill the role of program director for the new Master of Occupational Therapy Graduate Program. The position is a 12 month, tenure-track eligible appointment. The successful candidate will coordinate the development of a new graduate occupational therapy program at Walsh University.

The proposed program is a six semester, post-bachelor, master’s degree, which is completed in 2 academic years (4 + 2). The program will be housed in a newly developed Division of Health Sciences at Walsh University’s main campus, and the individuals within the program will work symbiotically with other well established health-related academic programs at Walsh University. A burgeoning pre-occupational therapy program exists at Walsh University and will provide a strong flow of future occupational therapy program admissions. Walsh University also has a thriving faculty development program on campus.

Opportunities as the program director will include developing the curricular philosophy, hiring departmental faculty, obtaining ACOTE accreditation, and creating a strategic plan for the program that is reflective of the mission of the university. We seek an energetic, creative, and passionate individual who is interested in designing a modern, visionary occupational therapy curriculum.

Walsh University recognizes the need for occupational therapists in Northeast and Eastern Ohio and has dedicated significant resources to the success of the occupational therapy program and its program director. The program will be located in newly constructed laboratory and teaching facilities with 21st century teaching capabilities. Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Description

Walsh University’s Division of Mathematics and Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for a new faculty position in its undergraduate Computer Science/Digital Technology/Information Science program. A Ph.D. in Computer Science or related disciplines is required for a tenure-track position or a Master’s in Computer Science or related disciplines is required for a professional-track position.

Professional responsibilities include teaching 24 credit hours per academic year, involvement in division planning and operations, appropriate University committee duties and other general service to the University.

Requirements

The candidate will have interests that complement and extend those of the current computer science faculty. Possible areas of interest could include network, database, graphics, gaming, security, robotics, data mining, digital media design, web design, interface design, human centered computing or some other specialty around which the computer science program could develop concentrations. These positions will help to further develop and restructure the existing computer science major, taking into consideration the curriculum recommendations of the ACM and the needs to the global market. The candidate will also help in outreach to the regional high schools to develop interest in computer science and recruitment of computer science/ digital science majors.

A demonstrated history of or interest in collaborating with faculty in other disciplines in developing interdisciplinary programs and courses would also be important. The division is looking for candidates with broad intellectual interests, the ability to collaborate in a positive and team-oriented academic environment and a strong commitment to teaching excellence in an undergraduate liberal arts setting.
