Assistant Professor

Walsh University invites applications (rank open) for a tenure-track position in the Division of Education beginning Fall 2015.

The nationally accredited Division of Education is seeking candidates with university teaching experience and a minimum of three years K-12 teaching experience. Teaching experience in the areas of Adolescent and Young Adult/Secondary Education Math or Science is preferred.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will engage in teaching-related responsibilities and duties which include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching a 24-credit hour load (12 credit hours
    in each of the fall and spring semesters) in the undergraduate Educator Preparation Program.
  • Teaching, developing and revising courses and curriculum for Educator Preparation.
  • Serving on Division of Education committees, including related state and national program and/or national accreditation work as assigned.
  • Provide Academic Advising to students enrolled in education courses.
  • Actively engage in ongoing professional development and scholarship related to teaching areas of expertise.

Requirements

  • A terminal degree (PhD or Ed.D.) or a confirmed dissertation date in an education-related discipline.
  • Three years of teaching experience, with preference to Adolescent/Young Adult or Secondary Math or Science.
  • Licensed or certified in the field in which K-12 teaching occurred.
  • Experience and/or evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level consistent with the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
  • Knowledge of national standards for AYA or Secondary programs in Math or Science.
  • Evidence of excellence in best practice 21st century teaching/experiential learning environments.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness in engaging with students.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in K-12 and university STEM programs and curriculum development
  • Grant writing experience
  • On-line teaching experience

Assistant Professor of Digital Media

Walsh University’s School of Arts and Sciences seeks a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Digital Media beginning fall 2015.

This is a new position with the opportunity to develop undergraduate content and curriculum in digital media and technology. Applicants will collaborate with faculty colleagues to integrate digital media into computer science and communication studies. Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to teach technology and theory in an experiential environment.

Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Walsh University’s School of Arts and Sciences is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science beginning fall 2015.

 Responsibilities

This faculty position involves teaching 24 semester hours per academic year of computer science related courses to undergraduate student majoring in computer science with specializations in programming and/or networking. Successful candidates will be expected to engage undergraduates in research, advising, mentoring and effective classroom learning experiences and faculty colleagues in curriculum development and assessment.

Teaching responsibilities include basic survey courses in computer science, courses from among database design and management, programming languages, operating systems, networking basics, and hardware and software components. Other areas of instruction, depending on the candidate’s additional expertise, may include web design, app development, or mobile computing application.

In addition to teaching and scholarship, professional responsibilities also include collaboration in Divisional and School related planning and operations, appropriate University committee duties and general service to the University community.

Requirements

The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline, possess excellent teaching skills and a desire to work in a collaborative and innovative learning environment.

Clinical Assistant Professor of Mental Health

Walsh University is seeking a Clinical Assistant Professor of Mental Health to teach mental health nursing in the undergraduate baccalaureate nursing program.  The successful candidate must have a strong clinical background with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Marketing Faculty Position 

Walsh University invites applications (rank open) for a tenure-track position in its growing DeVille School of Business beginning Fall 2015. 

The preferred candidate will hold an earned terminal degree (PhD, DBA, EDM) or a confirmed dissertation date in a business related discipline with a specialty in marketing from an institution accredited by the Association for Advancement of Collegiate School of Business (AACSB) prior to the intended start-date. If possible, the applicant will have special expertise in the emerging areas of social media. The successful candidate will be experienced and comfortable teaching in an environment that includes a global perspective as well as integrated and experiential learning pedagogy.

Reporting directly to the Dean, the successful candidate will play a vital role in the design and instruction of courses in both the undergraduate and MBA programs of the DeVille School of Business at Walsh University.

The successful candidate will engage in teaching-related responsibilities and duties which include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching an 18-credit hour load (9 credit hours in each of the fall and spring semesters) distributed across the undergraduate and MBA programs.
  • Teaching, developing and revising courses and curriculum for graduate and undergraduate programs.
  • Participate in assurance of learning.
  • Attending and actively participating in general activities of the DeVille School of Business.
  • Actively engaging in ongoing professional development in their relative field of expertise.

 Scholarship

  • The successful candidate will provide an agenda for pursuing scholarly research consistent with Boyer’s Model and with the mission.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for or show evidence of published research in professional journals and/or other appropriate scholarly artifacts, including presenting at conferences of professional associations.

The faculty member holding the position will engage in service activities which include but are not limited to providing professional assistance to the profession, to the community, to the University and to the DeVille School of Business in accordance with his/her professional acumen and breadth of experience and will attend and actively participate in University governance activities.

Occupational Therapy Program Director

Walsh University (North Canton, Ohio) seeks qualified candidates to fill the role of program director for the new Master of Occupational Therapy Graduate Program. The position is a 12 month, tenure-track eligible appointment. The successful candidate will coordinate the development of a new graduate occupational therapy program at Walsh University.

 Description

The proposed program is a six semester, post-bachelor, master’s degree, which is completed in 2 academic years (4 + 2). The program will be housed in a newly developed Division of Health Sciences at Walsh University’s main campus, and the individuals within the program will work symbiotically with other well established health-related academic programs at Walsh University. A burgeoning pre-occupational therapy program exists at Walsh University and will provide a strong flow of future occupational therapy program admissions. Walsh University also has a thriving faculty development program on campus.

Opportunities as the program director will include developing the curricular philosophy, hiring departmental faculty, obtaining ACOTE accreditation, and creating a strategic plan for the program that is reflective of the mission of the university. We seek an energetic, creative, and passionate individual who is interested in designing a modern, visionary occupational therapy curriculum.

Walsh University recognizes the need for occupational therapists in Northeast and Eastern Ohio and has dedicated significant resources to the success of the occupational therapy program and its program director. The program will be located in newly constructed laboratory and teaching facilities with 21st century teaching capabilities. A modern, newly constructed anatomy and tissue laboratory will be available for programmatic use.
