Fire is Catching: Banned Books Week at the Walsh University Library

Date(s): Sep. 22, 2013 - Sep. 28, 2013
Event Time: All Day

Throughout history, different kinds of people and groups of all persuasions, for all sorts of reasons, have attempted- and continue to attempt- to suppress anything that conflicts with their beliefs. Join the Walsh library, September 22-28, and view a display on the (often humorous reasons) why books are challenged and learn how to stand up to censorship. Collect a "I read challenged books" week pin from the American Library Association. Vote for your favorite frequently challenged book and be entered to win a prize.

On Wednesday, September 25 at 7 p.m., come for a party and discussion on the need for a banned books week to exist and have any of your questions answered. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served. Co-sponsored by the Division of Language and Letters.

With an overarching Hunger Games theme, this year's celebration promises to be a lot of fun. May the odds ever be in your favorite book's favor.
