Graduate Reading Endorsement Program
Do you have a passion for helping your students achieve reading success? Attain the most effective reading strategies and enhance your degree with a Reading Endorsement from Walsh University.
The Ohio General Assembly made changes in Senate Bill 21 to the Reading Guarantee. The Ohio Department of Education will distribute detailed guidance on these changes. Major changes are outlined on the Ohio Department of Education website. However, beginning July, 1, 2017, all educators licensed for grades pre-K-3 or 4-9 will pass a rigorous exam of reading instruction identified by the department.
Individuals who already hold a teaching license and are interested in adding the Reading Endorsement are eligible for the Pre-K through 12th Grade Reading Endorsement from Walsh University. The Reading Endorsement can be added to any license after successful completion of the required coursework and the appropriate Praxis II test. EDT 650 Developmental Language and Literacy
EDT 651 Methods of Teaching Developmental Reading
EDT 652 The Principles and Practices of Teaching Phonics
EDT 653 Reading Assessment and Intervention
EDT 654 Reading in the Content Area
EDT 655 Clinical Practicum in Reading
